There are a variety of organizations that grant wishes to children with life threatening conditions.
Tips on applying for a wish:
- Sometimes your child’s specialist or pediatrician is not the ideal person to write the letter justifying the wish. If your child has a social worker at the hospital, he or she might be a better choice as social workers are great at describing the “big picture” impact of your child’s illness.
- List any and all special requests such as dietary needs, medical equipment, and other accommodations at the time you are making the wish arrangements.
- Be as flexible as possible with dates and locations. Some organizations have special arrangements with certain resorts, hotels, theme parks, and other travel businesses which make granting wishes more affordable.
- Connect with other families who have worked with the organization for tips!
